About Us
Dusel Custom Builders
In late 2003, when Emily and Clay Dusel learned they were expecting their first child, Clay realized that working for other builders and moonlighting on his own projects would no longer work with the coming demands of his family. So in January 2004, Clay Dusel Custom Builder, INC. was founded, with a mission of delivering the highest level of customer service and green remodeling technology to every job we found. The first year of the business was a blessing, and Clay (magically, in retrospect) landed a few major projects in a row. A master bath remodel, an addition, a whole house remodel, and a detached garage. Each project was successfully completed, and these initial projects became sound referrals on which the whole business was built.
The years have gone by, and more, larger projects have come our way. We have partnered with local architecture firms, found the best of the best in trade contractors, hired (and kept) great employees, and we have continued our education to keep ourselves at the forefront of green building technology and business process systems as well. In 2006 the company name was changed to Dusel Custom Builders, as it was clear that this remodeling company was a team effort, and no longer just the work of Clay.
We have been involved with the local community, donating time and material to the Center for ReSource Conservation, serving on the board of directors of the Boulder Green Building Guild, and maintaining a presence at community events focused on sustainability.
It’s rewarding to see how far this business has come, and exciting to think about what the future holds. We are lucky to be passionate about what we do. Sometimes its dirty, oftentimes it’s stressful, but in the end, we are blessed to be able to use our skills to turn old buildings into energy efficient, beautiful structures that will serve their owners well for a long time to come. There is nothing better than to look back at the end of a job to see how beautiful we have made a building, and how happy the clients are who get to live there.

Trade Partners
Successful general contracting depends highly on trade partners. We have found specialists to perform plumbing, electrical, drywall, and many other specialty trades. In addition to having an unwavering attention to detail, most of our trade partners are owner operators, so the person working on your home has a vested interest in doing it right, as it’s their reputation on the line. Having a good partnership means that we promise to make sure our jobs are ready for each trade, and they deliver quality work each time.
